McKinsey Global Institute estimates that $57tn of global infrastructure investment is required from 2013 to 2030 in order to provide the roads, airports, water services, hospitals and schools that will deliver development and growth. Yet 10 - 30% of infrastructure investment is lost through inefficiency, mismanagement and corruption. A key theme in the upcoming 2018 G20 will be infrastructure investment, and the anti-corruption working group of the G20 are focussing on addressing challenges in infrastructure through conflict of interest disclosure. Yet infrastructure has not yet been a theme within IODC.

This panel will bring together high-level speakers to showcase what they are doing on open contracting for infrastructure, and how the different actors in this space are working together on unified open data.  Drawing on lessons from the Open Contracting Data Standard and CoST’s Infrastructure Transparency Initiative Disclosure Principles, this session will launch the first alpha of the Open Contracting for Infrastructure Data Specification for feedback from the audience.  We will also hear from Open Contracting implementers, such as CoST Honduras on their experience of testing this model on PPP projects as well as from the Global Infrastructure Hub, a G20 Initiative dedicated to increasing the flow and quality of infrastructure projects around the world through shared data, knowledge and leading practices.
